I started Blue Cactus Photography with my best friend because I noticed that women in our community who were entering new stages of life often weren’t documenting such meaningful moments. I believed that access to money shouldn’t be a barrier to having beautiful, lasting photographs. Through my lens, I saw myself as creating more than just images. I was creating an experience and a space where women could celebrate themselves and each other.
This project taught me how to work directly with clients, manage bookings, plan sessions, and create a comfortable, empowering environment for people in front of the camera. It also strengthened my skills in storytelling, event photography, and building meaningful connections through visual work. Even though Blue Cactus is no longer active as a company, I continue to take individual bookings and pursue photography projects that honor people’s experiences and stories.
